Kill the Dead: A Sandman Slim Novel Richard Kadrey Kill the Dead: A Sandman Slim Novel by Richard Kadrey. $3.79.

From Jacket Copy:

James Stark, a.k.a. Sandman Slim, crawled out of Hell, took bloody revenge for his girlfriend’s murder, and saved the world along the way. After that, what do you do for an encore? You take a lousy job tracking down monsters for money. It’s a depressing gig, but it pays for your beer and cigarettes. But in L.A., things can always get worse.

Like when Lucifer comes to town to supervise his movie biography and drafts Stark as his bodyguard. Sandman Slim has to swim with the human and inhuman sharks of L.A.’s underground power elite. That’s before the murders start. And before he runs into the Czech porn star who isn’t quite what she seems. Even before all those murdered people start coming back from the dead and join a zombie army that will change our world and Stark’s forever.

Death bites. Life is worse. All things considered, Hell’s not looking so bad.

Book 2 of the Sandman Slim series.  “Profane, intensely metaphoric language somehow makes self-tortured monster Stark sympathetic and turns a simple story into a powerful noir thriller.” says Publishers’ Weekly. Aloha from Hell, Book 3 is also $3.79.

Captured by Desire Kira Morgan Captured by Desire by Kira Morgan. $2.99.

From Jacket Copy:

Young Florie Gilder has always known that her biological father is a noble–her only evidence an heirloom gold belt. Living as a commoner, she earns her keep as apprentice-jewelry-designer in her foster-father’s goldsmithing shop. Secretly hoping to find her real father, she offers to sell the goldsmith’s wares in the town of her birth–at the Selkirk Fair. With her heirloom gold belt on display, she hopes it will be recognized by her real father.

Leaving her booth at the Fair to take a moment’s respite, Florie returns to find that a Lady Mavis Fraser of the Scottish court bought the gold belt (Mavis knows that her husband Lord Fraser would instantly recognize the belt as the link to the whereabouts of his illegitimate daughter whom he seeks to be reunited with, but such a reunion would foil Mavis’s claim to her husband’s estate). Florie, pursuing Lady Mavis, gives her back her money, wrests back the belt, and flees into the forest. Claiming Florie stole it from her, Mavis makes the authorities promise to find and execute Florie. Meanwhile, Rane MacAllister,a local hunter in the forest, mistakes the hiding Florie for a deer, wounding her with an arrow. He carries her to a local church where she will be guaranteed 40 days of sanctuary. When Lady Mavis hears the church has Florie, she commands Rane to guard her, but in the process he falls in love with her. Lady Mavis sets fire to the church, hoping to kill Florie, but Florie escapes. Rane’s penalty for letting her escape will be death. At the eleventh hour, Florie returns, and must decide which she wants more–Rane’s life, or her noble lineage…

This is a penname for Sarah McKerrigan and Glynnis Campbell. The reviews are mixed although most acknowledge that it is decently written although slow at some points.

Haha. You really know how to sell a book, Jane! (But this is probably a further example of why you’re the Bane of Lit-ra-chur.)

Vulgar language and too much sex? Sounds like my kind of book!

Wow, my grandmother strikes again (love her, but she wants me to be Deeanne Gist, which just isn’t going to happen, LOL!).

“Dragon’s Kiss” which I just read a few days ago (I’ll buy most anything for free!) DOES actually have “too much sex”. I mean I read tons of erotica and was crossing my legs up tight in sympathy pains for the heroine of this book! Vulgar language? Nothing bothered me very much on that front. That being said it was an OK read, especially for free.

I remember reading “Dragon’s Kiss” and I would agree it has too much. Again and again and again and again and again and again and again. And again. I’d say both of them would be forming callouses with that kind of abuse of sensitive parts.

@Jane, I found two reviews for BAY HIDEAWAY and the one from Amazon is for the Ohio Weddings: Bay Island/Thunder Bay/Bay Hideaway (Heartsong Novella Collection), which is only available in paperback:

“Ohio Weddings was an enjoyable read. I especially liked the suspenseful Bay Hideaway (book 3). Beth Loughner did a good job setting the Bay Island scene. I’d recommend this book to Christian romance readers.” – Amazon

“Bay Hideaway gripped me from the beginning with the resurrected dead. Yeppers. That’s what happened. Am I going to tell you more? Nope.

“Okay, maybe just a tad bit more. What does a ruby brooch, threatening letters, a deceased wife, an engaged politician, a loving, nosey old woman, a bossy old codger who isn’t what he appears to be, and a small community on Lake Erie all have in common? A really entrancing story, that’s what.” – Author Debra Ullrick

I grabbed Dragon’s Kiss. It does have a ton of sex. I ignored the amount and focused on the cunnilingus. ;-D It’s got some decent cunnilingus scenes.

For heavens sakes, I picked it up as well. *sigh* (As a doubting thomas, I kind of had to).. Well, more fool me. Blech. Not only sore lady parts (and man parts no doubt).. but being intimate with his bestial/dragon form? Ahhh. No thanks.
