A Rogue by Any Other Name: The First Rule of Scoundrels by Sarah MacLeanA Rogue by Any Other Name by Sarah MacLean. $ 2.99

From the Jacket Copy:

What a scoundrel wants, a scoundrel gets. . .

A decade ago, the Marquess of Bourne was cast from society with nothing but his title. Now a partner in London’s most exclusive gaming hell, the cold, ruthless Bourne will do whatever it takes to regain his inheritance—including marrying perfect, proper Lady Penelope Marbury.

A broken engagement and years of disappointing courtships have left Penelope with little interest in a quiet, comfortable marriage, and a longing for something more. How lucky that her new husband has access to an unexplored world of pleasures.

Bourne may be a prince of London’s illicit underworld, but he vows to keep Penelope untouched by its wickedness—a challenge indeed as the lady discovers her own desires, and her willingness to wager anything for them . . . .even her heart.

I DNF’ed this at around page 100 because the hero was too mean for me but readers who perservered said that the hero’s transformation was convincing.

Fever Dream (Special Agent Pendergast Series #10) Lincoln ChildFever Dream (Special Agent Pendergast Series #10) by Lincoln Child. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

Yesterday, Special Agent Pendergast still mourned the loss of his beloved wife, Helen, who died in a tragic accident in Africa twelve years ago.

Today, he discovers she was murdered.

Tomorrow, he will learn her most guarded secrets, leaving him to wonder: Who was the woman I married? Why was she murdered? And, above all . . . Who murdered her?

Revenge is not sweet: It is essential.

This eBook features:

Teaser of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child’s all-new series, Gideon’s Sword
Audio excerpt of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child’s all-new series, Gideon’s Sword

I think the inclusion of an audio excerpt is pretty cool except many ereaders don’t have audio capabilities anymore.

Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN by James Andrew Miller, Tom Shales Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN by James Andrew Miller. $ 3.99.

From the Jacket Copy:

It began, in 1979, as a mad idea of starting a cable channel to televise local sporting events throughout the state of Connecticut. Today, ESPN is arguably the most successful network in modern television history, spanning eight channels in the Unites States and around the world. But the inside story of its rise has never been fully told-until now.

Drawing upon over 500 interviews with the greatest names in ESPN’s history and an All-Star collection of some of the world’s finest athletes, bestselling authors James Miller and Tom Shales take us behind the cameras. Now, in their own words, the men and women who made ESPN great reveal the secrets behind its success-as well as the many scandals, rivalries, off-screen battles and triumphs that have accompanied that ascent. From the unknown producers and business visionaries to the most famous faces on television, it’s all here.

This book was a lot less titillating than every one anticipated it would be. If you are a big sports fan and want an insidery look at how ESPN came to dominate sports this book would probably interest you. If you are looking for gossip and scandals, might as well stick to reading Deadspin.

Heart Stealers is a good deal. Sold. A few years ago I read a character connected anthology with Kathryn Shay call The Lipstick Chronicles, it’s about a group of women working at an online greeting card company. It was good.

I haven’t read any of the authors in the Heart Steelers series but for 99c it’s hardly a risk and I liked the blurbs for most. Sold!

I’ve read the Ortolon book and it was a cute contemporary romance. It doesn’t break any new ground but was worth the time spent reading it. I’ve read several Kathryn Shay, although not the on in this bundle. I really enjoyed her firefighter trilogy (After the Fire, etc). For $.99 I don’t think you can go wrong.
