The Clayborne Brides: One Pink Rose, One White Rose, One Red Rose by Julie GarwoodThe Claybourne Brides by Julie Garwood. $ .99

From the Jacket Copy:

First introduced in Julie Garwood’s magnificent New York Times bestseller For the Roses, the Clayborne brothers of Blue Belle, Montana, have been embraced by millions more through this trio of #1 bestselling novels. Now collected in one volume for the first time, these stories tell of three spirited brothers — once a mismatched gang of street urchins — who learn that love flourishes in the most unexpected places….

One Pink Rose

Headstrong Travis takes a journey that opens his eyes to the splendor of his beloved West — and his heart to Bostonian Emily Finnegan.

One White Rose

Steady, quiet Douglas will do anything to protect a creature in need — and that includes the strong-willed Isabel Grant.

One Red Rose

Thoughtful Adam learns a powerful secret from the irrepressible Genevieve Delacroix — that true freedom only comes when you trust your heart.

You may want to read “For the Roses” before this book as it sets the table for the romances of the three Claybourne brothers. I didn’t love all the stories and this reviewer nails the problem and promise of Garwood.

I suppose even that wouldn’t be so bad, but the way Garwood writes a character’s train of thought, it’s very distinctive, and because it’s always done the same way, with the same voice and the same patter, no matter who the hero or heroine is, it gives this awful sameness to the characters so that after a while, you feel like you’ve already read the story before, even if you hadn’t

Bonds of Trust By: Lynda AicherBonds of Trust by Lynda Aicher. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

After ending her passionless marriage, Cali Reynolds is eager to live out her forbidden fantasies. Her first step is attending new members’ night at The Den, the most exclusive sex club in town. Perhaps here she can find a man who understands her desire to be dominated…

At first, Jake McCallister thinks Cali has come to his club for the wrong reasons. But when he discovers she is seeking fulfillment after years of denial, he’s intrigued—and takes it upon himself to initiate her into the pleasures she’s been missing.

Her first encounter with Jake is everything Cali has always craved, and more; she’s not prepared for the feelings he inspires in her. And Jake is just as surprised by his overwhelming attraction to Cali. As their play intensifies, so does their bond. Now, Jake doesn’t want anyone but Cali—but is he ready to officially claim her? And will she submit to being his forever?

78,000 words

This book is cheaper at other locations, but generally under $1.99. I reviewed the book here:

I could have used more relationship building and Jake could have been more fully drawn out. His bad boy, no commitment schtick was very stale and transparent. Cali disappoints me at the end but her actions provide the Dark Moment. Some readers will have a problem with her actions and the resolution and denouement came hard on the heels of that Dark Moment. I could have used more space for the two to have worked through those issues. Still, given that I really dislike club bondage books, this worked out better than I expected, probably in large part due to Cali’s search for sexual fulfillment relatively late (40s) in life. C+

The Art of Duke Hunting The Art of Duke Hunting By: Sophia NashThe Art of Duke Hunting by Sophia Nash. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

The Hangover meets Regency England in RITA Award-winning author Sophia Nash’s wickedly clever and wonderfully sensual Royal Entourage historical romance novels. In The Art of Duke Hunting, the second in her series, the dashing Duke of Norwich—on the morning after a most extravagant royal bachelor party that he simple cannot recall—awakens on board ship and well out to sea…and in the arms of a stranger, an enchanting and most proper lady. The Art of Duke Hunting is funny, sexy, and wonderfully romantic, as fans of Karen Hawkins, Elizabeth Boyle, and Victoria Alexander will most assuredly agree. And unlike the members of the Royal Entourage, you will happily recall every delicious moment of it!

This is the second in a series called Royal Entourage. The story is built around a curse involving ducks.  I gather from the reviews that this is a lighthearted story.

Born at Midnight (Shadow Falls Series #1) by C. C. Hunter, Christie CraigBorn at Midnight by C. C. Hunter. $ 2.99.

From the Jacket Copy:

Don’t miss this spectacular new young adult fantasy series from C.C. Hunter! Born at Midnight will steal your heart and haunt your dreams. Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

Christie Craig is the other penname for this author. If you don’t like love triangles, beware. One reader said that “CC Hunters “Born at midnight” takes this to the extreme, not only does it have a love triangle…extra guys keeps appearing out of the blue(not literally)to show interest in the heroine. :/ “

Sadly forced to concur with the Garwood opinion. She was a real favorite of mine back in the day. But I am attempting to re-read “Honor’s Splendor” and am finding it tedious. Apart from the marvelous opening scene where she warms his feet of course. Its sad when the best part is the beginning

I re-read THE WEDDING had THE BRIDE each year by Garwood. It brings me so much comfort and laughs. I do want to read more of her historicals especially the medieval romances but don’t have a clue where to go. I always read series on order as well.

Sophia Nash first two books in the Royal Entourage series was great reading and awaiting the 3rd to cone out I believe, THE DUKE’S DIARIES and she said there will be at least 5 in the series.
