Open Road has provided us with a clickable romance matrix (akin to what New York Magazine does for literature). The links will take you to a scribd document where you can read more about the book. Pretty cool, right? The best thing? From December 4 through 17, these books are all $1.99.

Let Them Eat Fruitcake (86 Bloomberg Place Series) by Melody Carlsonlet them eat fruitcake: a novel by Melody Carson. $ .99

From the Jacket Copy:

It’s the holiday season, and each of the roommates at 86 Bloomberg Place is a little blue . Megan’s got the boss from hell, and now her mom is going on a cruise, leaving Megan alone for Christmas for the first time ever. Lelani can’t afford to fly home to Hawaii and isn’t sure she’d be welcomed anyway, not that she can admit that to anyone. Anna’s old boyfriend—the one who cheated on her—has sailed back into her life, just when she’s met a for-real “nice guy” she’s been keeping secret from her large, crazy Latino family. And Kendall’s met a famous actor, who might be the answer to her money woes—if she could only convince him she’s the love of his life. His wife might have something to say about that, though. Thank goodness God’s around to listen when the girls need help!

Let’s face it, relationships are hard work—whether they’re with family and friends, coworkers and customers, or boyfriends and girlfriends. And when you’ve got your first apartment, a real job, and grown-up responsibilities, too, relationships are loaded with confusion, emotion, and secrets you can’t tell to anyone but God. Best-selling author Melody Carlson has captured all the uncertainty and joy of being twenty-something in pitch-perfect detail—and their stories just might sound like someone you know.

Apparently this is Christian chick lit.

Overcoming problems, challenges and the occasional frustration – namely overconfident Torin Stewart who seems to be everywhere – Elsie believes she is making the most of her life. But then a heartfelt request brings her to Paris – and the last item on a very important List. Can Elsie take the final step and lay her past to rest? Join Elsie as she battles to start again, with the help of a disastrous, newly-formed singing group and her father and sister armed with dating hopefuls.

I consider this book a holiday story. It has snow on the cover. There are only three reviews but they seem heartfelt. It sounds like a sweet romance and for fans of Paris, there is an important Eiffel Tower scene.

Scandal Wears Satin by Loretta ChaseScandal Wears Satin by Loretta Chase. $ 2.99.

From the Jacket Copy:

From the Journals of Sophia Noirot: A dress is a weapon. It must dazzle his eye, raise his temperature . . . and empty his purse.

A blue-eyed innocent on the outside and a shark on the inside, dressmaker Sophy Noirot could sell sand to Bedouins. Selling Maison Noirot’s beautiful designs to aristocratic ladies is a little harder, especially since a recent family scandal has made an enemy of one of society’s fashion leaders. Turning scandal to the shop’s advantage requires every iota of Sophy’s skills, leaving her little patience for a big, reckless rake like the Earl of Longmore. The gorgeous lummox can’t keep more than one idea in his head at a time, and his idea is taking off all of Sophy’s clothes.

But when Longmore’s sister, Noirot’s wealthiest, favorite customer, runs away, Sophy can’t let him bumble after her on his own. In hot pursuit with the one man who tempts her beyond reason, she finds desire has never slipped on so smoothly . . .

This is not a holiday title, but it is by Loretta Chase who can’t write a bad book even on an off day. This is definitely not one of my favorite Chase books. I struggled a bit with the setup and the characters.

Hmm. Doesn’t work for me either. This is the original.

I gave Scandal Wears Satin a DNF so I guess I disagree that she can’t write a bad book. Knaves’ Wager , at the same price, is a much better bargain for those who want to read one of her books.

@Janine: Arrrgghhhh! Don’t say that about one of my mostest favoritest authors!!! I haven’t picked this up yet so now I’m worried! I’m good with reading a back list book if I need to get my LC fix. :O)

@Shelley: LOL. Well, you may very well disagree. I haven’t loved all her books but the Carsington series are some of my faves.
