REVIEW: Sony Reader for $59.95 including Shipping and Tax

There is a little known but completely valid way to get a Sony Reader for under $60.00 including shipping and tax. I got one and so did Miki, a reader here at DearAuthor. So did many others at MobileRead forum. I forgot to mention it on Sunday with all my ranting on and on about the evil digital masters at Penguin.

In order to get this deal, you sign up for a Sony Rewards card. It takes about two weeks to get the card and after you get the card, you sign up at Sony Rewards. You do a couple of shenanigans outlined at MobileRead, pay for the Sony Reader with your Sony Rewards card and for the tune of $59.95, the Sony Reader gets shipped to your house in about two weeks.

These may be refurbished units, I don’t know, but it looks the same as my original one and works just as well. If you do buy one, you might want to hack it like I did.
