June Ebook Contest
Dear Readers and Authors:
Edited to add: We often get offers of free books related to this contest but we decided in last month’s contest that we would buy all the books we chose so we could remain objective. We have no problem in receiving books from publishers but at this time feel uncomfortable receiving books from authors.
We are opening up the June ebook contest which was inspired by Cece. This contest asks for you, readers and authors, to nominate books to be reviewed. Jayne and I will pick a number of books (probably around 4 each) to read and review. As seen by the previous contest, not all books are going to get good grades. We hope that doesn’t scare you all away. Of course, if you really hate an author, you may want to nominate them in hopes that we send them a Dear Ja(y)ne letter.
One hint on the nominating process. If you see alot of one type of book being nominated: i.e., paranormals, you are probably going to have a better chance of your recommendation being picked up if it is different. Jayne and I both enjoy reading traditional regencies which were almost totally disregarded in the last contest.
If you a reader, spend all the space you need to tell us why we should read the book. Authors, you write for a living. Give us your best three to four sentence sale. You can include links to excerpts, your website, etc. We'll run this contest until May 31. Bring on the recommendations.

The Distressing Damsel by Shelly Laurenston –fantasy romance
Leaving Mama by Bobbie Cole (releases next Tuesday)–it’s women’s fiction, not romance, though there are romantic undertones to it
The only historical ebooks I can think of off the top of my head that I loved were Lynne Connolly’s Richard and Rose books, and you’ve already read those ;) I don’t read many historicals, ebook or otherwise.

Hmmm, I know a wonderful historical author – Jess Michaels. Her Sin series is what you should pick because they are really very good and did I mention they are Regencies? YES, un perfecto! Start with Wager of Sin [www.venuspress.com] and be prepared to read the trilogy :-)
As for sports themed, I’ll be selfish and recommend my Extreme Speed, Total Control [www.whiskeycreekpresstorrid.com] for a steamy race around the track.
But, like last time, I still think you should meet Riker and Bethany in JJ Massa’s wereworlf series opener Acting Like Family [www.venuspress.com], this is a tale that you will not put down until you are finished and wanting more.

I’m going to take the plunge, and would love to send you a copy of my first paranormal, titled SAHARA’S RETALIATION. It’s gotten great reviews, and I’m interested in seeing what you would think of the story.

I bought Blood Brothers yesterday. I read Manga that sometimes features M/M relationships so while I don’t rush out to buy many of them unless they are very good, I do read them. That would be a good one to read for the contest.

What the heck? I’ll throw my hat in the ring. I have a few full-length novels I would like reviewed. They are as follows:
Fascination Street: A contemporary “romance” about a couple that moves to a small cul-de-sac where the other couples all swing/swap partners. This is through Venus Press.
That’s What Friends Are For: Is the song suck in your head now? This story is about best friends with benefits. Can two best friends have sex and still be friends? This one is through Liquid Silver Books.
Corporate Seduction: This is a boss-and-secretary romance with a BDSM twist. This story is through Midnight Showcase.
If you haven’t guessed, all of these stories are erotic romances. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you two will choose one or all of my books!

Ahhhhh…I have to recommend Apocalypse Dance by M.Barnette at Phaze.com- I dare you not to fall for the hero Bells and the team of fighters in the ravaged futuristic world- if you are looking for something different in erotic romance, it has a kick butt story, then this is it.

People have already listed two of my favorite ebook authors: Shelby Reed (go with The Fifth Favor or Seraphim) and Lisa Marie Rice (Port of Paradise or Midnight Man).
So I’ll add Priscilla Darcy’s Twenty Hours in Boston (sweet, funny contemporary romance), J.B. Skully’s Dead to the Max (paranormal mystery/suspense – but be warned: it’s one of series of five, with an series-long story arc and quite addictive), or Annalise’s Venus Rising (futuristic erotic romance/mystery).

Hopefully by the end of the month, I’ll have a couple more full length stories to add to my TBR pile. At the very least, I’ll know who NOT to buy full length novels from. [...]
