Dear Author ShelfServer

We had some technical issues regarding Dear Author’s iPhone Shelfserver but Zac Bedell, the developer of my favorite ebook iPhone reading application Bookshelf, has graciously agreed to host the DearAuthor Shelf.   As you can see by the above picture, the DearAuthor Shelf is automatically included with each install of the Bookshelf.

Reading on the iPhone is growing daily.   Fictionwise has invested alot of developing time in growing that market.   There are over 8 million iPhone owners in 2008.     This bookshelf contains original fiction and excerpts.   Anyone can contribute.   Send the works to me at jane at

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Make sure your document is proofread and as error free as possible and is a good example of your writing.
  • Include a title pge with the book title and your name with identifying information at the end such as your web address, other books in the series, where the books can be purchased and so forth.
  • Name your file Author Last Name, Author First Name – Name of Work
  • The books can be any genre, any heat-‘or non-heat–level (any genre-‘of romance, or not romance, fantasy, mystery, etc. ANY genre).
  • The book will be posted in the exact format that it is sent to me. I will not to any editing to make it work.   These are the supported formats.

Jane Litte is the founder of Dear Author, a lawyer, and a lover of pencil skirts. She self publishes NA and contemporaries (and publishes with Berkley and Montlake) and spends her downtime reading romances and writing about them. Her TBR pile is much larger than the one shown in the picture and not as pretty. You can reach Jane by email at jane @ dearauthor dot com

I think it’s great you gals are doing this and showing how easy it is to share (free) electronic content!

I was emailing a few authors and noticed that recently ebooks of new releases are slowing a bit – any idea why? Can you put together a petition, or even a “Want Romance novels in ebook format?” post on the site and ask people to comment so we can keep showing the publishers that there is demand?

Still waiting for Lisa Kleypas’ new books, and a lot of Berkley Sensation books did NOT come out in eformats :(
