Lifetime Achievement Author – Vicki Lewis Thompson
Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award winner is Vicki Lewis Thompson. VLT was born in the year of the monkey, as were her parents, which means monkeys were her preferred crowd.
But she grew out of her small town and out of the local monkeys (shows picture of King Kong). Monkey began to stalk her. Everywhere she went, the monkey haunted her. At least, she accepted the truth. She had to embrace her inherent monkey-ness.
The monkey is off her back and by her side and making her laugh.
Nora Roberts presenting the award. Nora looks like a hot Regency heroine. It’s a beautiful red dress and her hair is pinned up with curly tendrils around her face.
Apparently Nora and VLT have been friends for a long time – longer than they both want to admit.
Standing O for VLT. VLT looks great with a royal blue gown.
Thanks the board for a shiny moment she’ll remember forever. Joined RWA 26 years ago. 9 out of the 25 Lifetime Achievement Award Winners have three names. Remember that new authors picking out new pen names.
No one survives this business without some help. Thanks individuals and her local chapters. Thanked the plot monkeys. Thanked her editors and agents. Also thanked her Soapbox Queens??? I missed that. And finally thanked her daughter.
