Author Promo Thread, January 2009 Edition
Are you an author with a January 2009 release (this includes anyone who was released in late December as well). Tell the readers all about it. Include a blurb! an excerpt link! a buy link! anything that you think will help a reader be a) interested in your work and b) buy it.
The rules for Author Promo Night Open Thread are as follows:
- The book has to be released in that month (i.e., anything released during the last week of April would be a May release)
- You can post for yourself or you can have a friend post for you if the idea of posting about your book paralyzes you .
- No self published authors unless you write romance. No, I am not a POD hater, I am just thinking about the manageability of the thread.
- Think about the readership. I.e., does your non fiction book about psoriasis really fit?
- This one is more of a guideline than a rule, but be smart about your comment because if it is just a link to your website and the title of your book, I doubt you are going to get any interest.
- DA reserves the right to delete the post if it promotes objectionable content (i.e., no daddy/daughter incest recommends are going to be allowed. Sorry.)

Janet has this on her TBR list and when she has time, will be posting a review at Dear Author. So for now, I’ll mention TKD was awarded SRR’s OUTSTANDING READ and 5/5 Roses from RRfA.
For a heads up, The King’s Daughter contains several explicit encounters and some rather compromising situations but it isn’t erotica, although it has been categorised as such at two eBook shops.

My last spam of this particular book, but hopefully not the last for the author, since the other books will also be reissued by BAEN. And in the interest of not cluttering up the site I shall simply link to my comment in the anticipated book list earlier.
I am speaking of course of P.C. Hodgell’s Godstalker Chronicles, out this month from BAEN in hardcover and trade paperback.

Common Questions:
1. Should I read the prior books first? It helps, especially to have read the first three, but people do start in later in the series now without much of a problem.
2. Are these romance or not? Well, my publisher thinks so. There are sex and relationships in the books, and they do have a prominent part, but the focus is on the story arc of the sisters and their mission. The end isn’t going to give you the picket fence, happily ever after, 2.5 kids and a minivan. ;) And the romance is some times alternative–poly, bi/gay, hetero, you name it, I’ve probably got it in there.
3. Are the sisters ripped off from Charmed? Nope–never watched an episode of the show. I was a Buffy girl. (Yeah, I get that question a lot and just don’t get it ~grins~).

As a cat may eat its own kits, so a woman in ancient Egypt was recognized as having the right to kill any new-born infant she did not wish to raise. Yet, to appease the dead, it was the custom that a baby-killer should hold the dead child for three days and nights.

The guards put her with the whores, the drunkards, the killers. They were sent into the courtroom seven at a time. She was the last in the third batch.
“Name?†demanded the court scribe and scraped her answer across the papyrus.
“Why are you here?†asked the mayor of her village, the father of her former lover.
