I LOVED <em>Ash</em>, and so did my teenage daughter when I finally let her borrow it. It's a beautiful book, in many ways -- the edition is lovely, the story and characters were very special, and the style in which you wrote it was really suited to the fairy tale roots. I've lost count of the number of times I have recommended your book. Thank you for writing it! I’m a huge Robin McKinley fan, too. I know what you mean about this, and it always makes me glad to see it articulated. As difficult as writing can be at times, not writing is worse. That’s one of the reasons I write for DA, as well. Self-expression is necessary to my happiness — something I wish I’d figured out at a younger age.
