I LOVED it. All three books. Each book had their own unique characters, and Evie has a way with words and emotions, that make the characters leap out of their pages. She is a fantastic writer, and I’d read anything she wrote.

I was thinking about the book but your review made me purchase it. It was really quite good. I think it was pretty tightly written and covered many sections. The exchanges and really the violence didn’t bother me as it would in some other books. It somehow seemed very… right. I would have liked to see more of the transition at the end though.

After reading this review yesterday, I bought all of the Faustin books.
I’ve just finished reading Mikhail and Alya’s story and I loved it.
Jane, your review is spot on. Definitely deserves the top marks.
It was a bit too short for my taste. I believe the vampyr world should have been fleshed out more. But otherwise, great book and mesmerising voice. Even if BDSM wasn’t really my come of tea, I felt that it was what was needed to show the core of the characters and what made them work as a couple.

@Kaetrin: No, I don't think so. The first story in the series (which is actually second chronologically), I really didn't like as much as the other two. The worldbuilding is so much tighter in this book than the first one.

I bought ALL of her books after liking the one you previewed previously so, so much.

Grisha’s book’s opening scene is one of the best after so long. Sasha’s dining table scene was o-m-g HAWT!

Fresh humor, unaffected writing, great sex. If it’s a movie, I’d say it’s like Pirates of The Caribbean – light with substance. Can’t wait to read Misha’s book.

Thank you, Jane, for your awesome review. This was a difficult story to write because of the complicated power dynamics between the two of them. After I’d banged my head against the keyboard long enough, I came up with something that at least seemed honest. But I wasn’t sure if readers would accept Mikhail’s compromises or Alya’s hard edges.

So it’s wonderful to hear on the eve of its debut that at least one reader (My first reader? You were right on top of this release!) liked the way Alya and Mikhail worked it out. Your observations were just spot on–as I read it, I was thinking I couldn’t say it better myself. Again, many thanks.

@Maili: One scene, really. There is another scene, but I don't really see it as a BDSM scene even though technically it may be (essentially she tells him he can't come until she tells him to)

It really does sound awesome. I’d buy it in an instant if it wasn’t for the mention of BDSM. How much does it feature in the story? One scene or through the story? (I can handle it if it is just a scene. Or two).
