Thanks for the reviews that got me reading this series, which I like for its community and humor. WBB may have been my favorite, possibly because it made what's usually epilogue fodder into an obstacle course that slammed friends and family together in ways that mattered a lot to them and gave them strong, often conflicting motivations that stemmed from deep-rooted relationships. I enjoyed the h/h and how they complemented each other (including what you said about how Janie deals with Otto, and also the way that Pete works at fixing life), was able to overlook the cardboard villains more than in the rest of the series... and got renewed appreciation for Docia. She strikes me as an unusual character, and while she didn't overpower the story, the way she struggled with family helped make the book for me.

OMGoodness! You sucked me into these books :) I bought both the first, VENUS IN BLUE JEANS, and WEDDING BELL BLUES and read them straight thru the weekend. My children were very frightened of my response when they approached me all Saturday and Sunday. If I was holding the Kindle, they just backed away slowly and went and found Daddy. ;)

Loved Them Both! Thanks for the review and the recommendation!

It's slang for Cajun. Some take pride in it, others consider it a slur. Or as a former co-worker of mine once said of her Cajun husband: it's-ok-for-him-to-say-it-cuz-he-is-one.

Yep, that's how the heroine uses it - in a "okay for me but not for you to use" fashion.

I read the first book in the series, Venus in Blue Jeans, and enjoyed it. I saw the words "Texas Hill Country" and just had to buy it. I love the Hill Country!

I thought the first book would be fluffy, but it turned out to be more than that too. I'll have to pick up this one.

Coonass? What's a coonass? Must look this up.
