#9 — Emily. I realize I’m coming to this late, but, regarding the lack of a sequel to Sword of Orion…we had expected to write at least two more in that series, which does not belong to us, but to the publisher (the project was a work for hire) and, well…the publisher went out of business, orphaning not just Jerrel, but a bunch of other characters and authors.

I’m sorry you’re frustrated, but, honestly — not our fault.

Ok, here’s my beef – I wanted to enter the Fall Preview giveaway but there’s no post comment form available. Darn. I’m guessing I was just too late and the posts are closed for it (as usual for me ;-)

Anyway – looking forward to lots of stuff but I can’t think of anything that is coming out this month specifically. I’m ready to read the third Devon Monk, the new Rob Thurman (new series, yay!), another new series by Ilona Andrews (though I’ve yet to get my hands on Magic Strikes) and all sorts of others.

I got the ebook last night and should finish it today at lunch. It’s cracktastic, but I’m with you on the slightly repetitive sex scenes. I, too, am eagerly awaiting the Jonas book…I’m so glad she’s not setting it up like Kenyon with the Archeron book(s).

I’m glad to see the overall story arch moved forward with the latest books, but while the fact that they have to have sex!!1!1! so often is fine with me, I DO wish her heroines would just take charge of it once in a while.

Help! I’m drowning in good books! I’m dying to read the Leslie Parrish books and the latest Tessa Dare (already read and enjoyed Goddess of the Hunt) but I have a stack of books TBR to review — many of them ones I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. I feel like I have a banquet in front of me, and only so much room in my stomach! What’s a slow reader to do?

@RStewie #33: Me too with loving LL's Breed books but I found Bengal's Heart to be slow, repetitive and incredibly boring. I was so psyched for this book and it was a huge letdown. JMO. I'm hoping that Heat Seeker will be a better read for me.

Couldn’t agree with you more. If she used the word “erotic” (or one of its derivatives) less than 12 times a sex-scene it might have been a little more tolerable. It was one of her most un-readable books. I’m just hoping with my fingers crossed that she can recover her A-game for Jonas’s book.

@Sherry Thomas: I just finished Too Good to be True as well. I thought it was a lot of fun. I’ll be getting some more of Higgins’ books to read.

I also read Someone Like You, a western by Leigh Greenwood. I love westerns, and I really enjoyed this one. Also, I got to meet Mr. Greenwood at RWA this year, and he was a very nice guy. I’ll be reading more of his backlist.

I’ve got tons of books in the TBR pile, but I’m really looking forward to reading Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch. It’s the second book in his epic fantasy Gentlemen Bastards series about a group of thieves. The third one comes out sometime next year, I think …

I have a post-it stuck inside my current read (Kinsale's Flowers From the Storm, which is WONDERFUL). It lists the books I want to buy this month, number one of which is Jo Goodman's Never Love a Lawman. And I'm really ready for the next Kleypas and Carlyle. My TBR shelf is getting full again, so I hope everything I want is at Fictionwise.

I wanted to mention an August release “Tortured” by Amanda McIntyre. It’s a HQN Spice release set in the dark ages and really stood out as something different. Her website is http://www.amandamcintyre.net/ Disturbing but compelling and a very good read.
