Jayne,
As the author of Zhena, I'd like to thank you for your feedback. As a new author, I am always interested in people's opinion of my work, both good and bad. With that said, I would like to comment on some of your points. First of all, I have received several good reviews if anyone is interested. The links are below.

Concerning your comment about people's recall, as an officer in the submarine force, I routinely work with people who have that level of recall of detail. I purposefully picked people who's profession would require that as well. For example, the bank manager(someone who needs an eye for detail and a good memory), the detective (again, someone who is trained to notice details and quickly recall specific events), and the orphanage director (I realize this is not a profession one would associate with detail and recall, but I specifically made her character someone who was very meticulous). I agree I may have stretched this with some other people and I will consider that in the future.

Concerning your comment about when Susan gives the lead mercenary a way out, Susan is not a cold blooded killer. While Sasha is cold blooded, this difference will eventually lead to severe internal conflicts which I'm dealing with in the sequal (entitled "Dohch"). Also, at that time Susan is in a race against time. She has to save Andrea's daughter and still solve her own problem in order to save her own family. Together, these facts made Susan choose to give the leader an out in hopes of resolving the issue quickly and cleanly.

As far as the action not progressing, my goal was to show how Susan was trying to balance her normal life with this crazy world of espionage that was trying to intrude. Her goal is to stop the espionage world from intruding and possiblying destroying the only life she's ever known or really remembers.

Again, I thank you for your feedback and will consider it in my future writing.

Traumatic events? Yeah, I can see remembering those in detail (and Cold Case is a show I like too!). But not here, not with a person the witnesses barely knew for a few weeks. It was all just too convenient.

One of things that annoys me about Cold Case, my husband's favorite show, is that everybody has perfect recall, whether the murder happened in 1993 or 1943.

I realize a person retains more memories of a traumatic event, but...bugs me.
