One thing I really liked about this book was how strong the women were. So many paranormals have heroes who are hulking, super-strong, and completely dominant and the women come out looking like helpless children in comparison. In this story Sarah does most of the fighting, she is almost the same size as Cullen (as a bird), and Cullen's mom is definitely in charge of the family. What made it so great was that the author did this without making the guys look weak, either. It was interesting to read.

I read Rachel's Totem and well as In Plain Sight. Even with the background from the first book, this one just felt rushed. It did help in understanding how Cougar Falls works. Not as much as you might think.

These shorter novels/novellas make me feel like I'm missing something important. The format is very unforgiving. Few writers come off well. I find I rarely give better than C to the format because there are always too many flaws in the flow of the plot and relationship building - which is 90% 'instant love'. HA!
