Hello everyone and thanks for the opportunity to showcase my new release coming on 19th June from The Wild Rose Press.

CHILDREN OF THE MIST is futuristic with a 'fantasy' feel. If you're looking for spicy sex scenes, this won't be for you, but if you like a more 'old fashioned' type of fantasy, this might just be your 'thing'. It's a follow up to my debut novel 'Starquest' and features some of the characters from that book. It's not necessary to have read the first book, although it would probably help to know some of the 'back story' but I tried to make it as much a 'stand alone' story as possible.

Blurb

Two minds united against a common foe. Two hearts afraid to show their love: Long ago Tamarith fell in love with a man she can never have, and is convinced she will never love another. However, she cannot help but be intrigued by a handsome stranger whose psychic powers exceed even her own.

Vidarh seeks only to find his true purpose in life and to win the regard of his father, who eschews his son's psychic abilities. Thrown together by a common threat to their planet, then torn apart by an evil greater than any they could have imagined, can Vidarh save the lovely Nifl woman who has captivated him, before it is too late? Will Tamarith and Vidarh overcome the deadly enemy who threatens to destroy all they know and love? Will they find the happiness they both seek? Or are they fated to live their lives alone?

Excerpt:

Guided by Tamarith, Vidarh stopped before the first and largest cave. He would need some form of illumination. From his pack he drew a torch, which he lit and wedged into a crack in the rock. Unsaddling the pony, he turned it loose. The
animal, descended from stock genetically engineered to withstand the harsh conditions, and brought with the first settlers to Niflheim, was fit and hardy. It would have no problem foraging for itself until his return.

With a resolute set to his shoulders, Vidarh retrieved his torch and made his way into the cave. Just inside the mouth, he found a hollow behind a rock in which to hide the saddle and bridle. At least it would be safe and dry there, so long as no hungry rodent decided to nibble at it. He strapped on his pack, containing a change of clothing and a few personal items, and set off along a narrow passageway at the back of the cavern.

Tamarith directed him along the various twists and turns of the labyrinth. At first, the going was easy. The walls of rock gave off a soft, diffuse luminescence, augmenting the light from his torch. After walking for so long he began to think
the tunnel he followed led nowhere, the luminosity grew stronger, and the passage opened out into a large amphitheatre. The light reflected back from the walls revealed seats, formed out of pale green stone, arranged in tiers forming a semi-circle. At one end was a pool, shimmering in the soft light. Multi-colored stalactites glistened like jewelled candelabra from the roof of the cave. At the far end was a high dais flanked on each side by another passage.

Vidarh paused for only a moment to take in the beauty around him. He was familiar with the Conference Chamber of the community of Gladsheim. His mind had been there many times but this was the first time he had physically entered the place.

Instructed to take the left fork, he progressed along the labyrinths, noting the downward slope of the passage. Occasionally, when he came to a branch in the tunnel, he would stop and listen to Tamarith's voice in his mind as it guided him
along the right path.

You don't have far to go. I will keep sending you the directions. You should be near the river now.

Yes. I hear it up ahead.

Be careful. We had heavier than usual
snowstorms last winter. With the coming of spring, the melting snow and ice has swelled the volume of water.

Vidarh made his way along the tunnel, partly guided by his telepathic link with Tamarith, and partly by his own senses. Eventually it widened out into a large cave, through which the underground river roared as it cut its way through the mountain. On the shingle of the boulder-strewn shore, several small boats bobbed against their moorings. After ensuring his pack was securely fastened around his waist, he climbed into one, and lashed the torch to the prow. He cast off, and took up the paddle. The river bore the craft along at a tremendous rate and it needed all his skill and attention to save the craft from dashing against the rocks. He'd heard about the fabled river of Mimir, but this was not the tranquil stream of his imagination.

The walls still reflected a phosphorescent glow. Vidarh noticed several gigantic, human-like statues on the banks as he passed, but had no time to contemplate or admire them. Rounding a bend, he came upon a wall of water ahead, cascading from the roof in a fury of white froth. The torrent boiled and raced. He gritted his teeth as he headed into the maelstrom. There was no way he could control the boat's frantic motions as it heaved and bucked like an unbroken colt. He threw down the paddle, gripped the sides of the vessel, and sent a desperate message through the ether.

Tamarith, I'm in trouble. Please-'send me images of your location, quickly. I need to know what it looks like where you are.

Holly's Inbox is comedy romance - "the Bridget Jones of the digital age" - how it was recently described in Entertainment Weekly (I know - I'm bigging myself up)
Below I have written the background behind the publishing of this book....

Do you know what it's like to throw up in your mouth and leak pee at the same time?
On the tube? In front of people?

My wife was standing there with her hands on her hips, angry, pregnant and quite scary. I shook my head, I didn't know what it was like, so she told me, and later that day I told as many people as I could, which was around 50,000.

It had all started a few months earlier when we realised we were in trouble.
My wife and I ran a small independent recruitment agency specialising in providing receptionists, from an office in Holborn. As recruitment slowed down so the market became even more competitive and we knew if we were to stand a chance of survival we needed to come up with a new way of attracting candidates and fast.

That's when the idea struck us.... we were going through an ex-employees work email account. The woman in question was single, extremely flirtatious and had always loved us to bits. We discovered she was married with four children, and couldn't stand the sight of us. The life she was leading was so full of mystery, intrigue, romance (and many many lies) that it made me wonder if it was possible to tell a story in this way. If we could get receptionists to read it, maybe we could get them applying for our jobs.

Our agency needed candidates from Hotels and Banks. So I made my heroine a receptionist called Holly working for an investment bank and her best friend, Jason, a receptionist from a Hotel, and I began.
I had never had any success as a writer, never had anything published and had given up my dream years ago. But here I was about to try writing again, but this time as a woman, and I would have failed miserably if I hadn't had a little help....

The basic plot had around two email exchanges a day and we launched www.HollysInbox.com . The site's popularity spurred me on, but it soon became obvious I had grossly underestimated the amount of emails I needed each day to keep people on the site... so I began writing in real-time.

Each day I would leave my flat in Maida Vale and make my way to Holborn via public transport. I started noticing how women were treated, on tubes, on buses, how they dealt with certain situations. Instead of looking at the pretty woman on the tube, I would watch the men looking at her, I would imagine how this made her feel: good, bad, nervous, harassed?
My writing was getting better, but I believe I would never have had it published if it wasn't for the Live Chat Room we introduced.
I already had an obsession with ratings, I could see people logging out of the site or staying put as I wrote, but now I could read what they were saying instantly, sometimes before I'd even finished the sentence. 90% of the readers were women and I'll be honest; to begin with most of what they said wasn't pleasant. If it was too slow, they'd complain, too much toilet humour, they'd say so, not sensitive enough - they'd roast me, but basically they were teaching me to write, like a woman. It could be quite disheartening too, I could be developing a gripping plot line, leap into the chat room and find out they were discussing Pete Dogherty's backside.

My wife gave birth shortly after the book's release in the UK and some of her love, pain, torment and experiences I 'borrowed' for my book. She was, I'm sure, most pleased to learn of a character called Pregnant Pam, who emailed Holly immediately after a flirtatious exchange with an investment banker

Subject: My Morning

FROM Pregnant Pam
TO Holly
Holly
Do you know what it's like to throw up in your mouth and leak pee at the same time?
On the tube? In front of people?
That's what happened to me this morning.
How are you anyway?

Thanks for this thread.

For action/romance with humor:

CHARMED AND DANGEROUS
Now Available!

Bobbie Faye is looking forward to the Lake Charles Contraband Days Festival with balloons, booze and babies in pirate costumes. Instead, her trailer's flooded, her no-good brother's been kidnapped, and the criminals are demanding her mom's tiara as ransom.

Soon Bobbie Faye is committing (unintentional) bank robbery and (fully intentional) carjacking to retrieve her family heirloom. Along comes the hard-muscled, impossibly sexy Trevor, the guy whose truck she just took hostage. Luckily, Bobbie Faye knows how to outsmart angry bears, drive a speedboat, and handle a gun. As for handling Trevor? No gun-shyness there. Now, if only that pesky state police detective, who also happens to be a pissed-off ex-boyfriend, would stay out of her way...

Angela: Eep. Should have included that info!

The Twilight Deception is a little bit over 20k, and LSB uses delayed distribution. They're exclusive from their site for the first few months (I believe it's 3), then go up on FW. :)

@Nonny How long is The Twilight Deception? And does Liquid Silver sell through any distributors right away or do they do delayed distribution? (just wondering where it can be bought from when it releases). Thanks!

@Maree Where is Even Demons Get the Blues available for purchase besides the Red Sage site?

Yes, I am one of those "one stop shopper" type of people :P But on the positive side for authors, it usually means I buy a lot more than just the book I went for.

Five of the books mentioned in this thread were edited by me, so I'm going to pimp them again: Personal Protection by Leah Braemel, Dear Sir, I'm Yours by Joely Sue Burkhart, Serengeti Heat by Vivi Andrews, Kiss and Kin by Kinsey Holley and The Man of Her Dreams by Robie Madison. I think they're all amazing books!

I have two other releases in June not mentioned here. Silent Blade, a scifi romance novella by Ilona Andrews is available now from Samhain, and Miss Firecracker, a red hot contemporary novella, by Lorelei James releases at the end of June from Samhain.

Thanks for the opportunity, ladies! I actually had one release in each of May and June, so here goes....

If you like pirates in spaaaaaaaccccceeeeeeeeee, then you may like a reverse Pygmalion that was released by Total-E-Bound last month. The title is A Pirate's Passion:

Gilthen Ahn is captain of the Darck Banks cartel, one of the more notorious pirate bands in Republic space. He has four ships under his command. And, unless he finds money to pay his debts, he'll lose everything.

Poor little rich girl, Tera d'Olzon, is trying to make a difference by thumbing her nose at the despotic Republic, but things haven't quite turned out the way she anticipated. After running from the Security Force, she is "rescued" by Gil's cartel.

The reasonable thing for the cartel to do is to ransom her. But that won't bring in the money that Gil desperately needs. So he hatches a plan...

My June release is a contemporary, with a female bodyguard guarding the male body for a change. It's called Guarding His Body and will be out on 8 June, again from Total-E-Bound:

Yves de Saint Nerin is a man in trouble. Hounded by a vengeful business associate who has no qualms about attacking his family, he visits Australia in a bid to escape Leonid Alexandrov's ruthless tactics. But, not leaving things to chance, he also hires a bodyguard and gets more than he bargains for in the form of accomplished martial artist, Helen Collier.

You can buy them here: A Pirate's Passion / Guarding His Body

I have full first chapters of all my releases up on my site here.

Thanks for the opportunity to plug! :)

My paranormal romance, THE TWILIGHT DECEPTION, releases June 8th from Liquid Silver Books.

The blurb:

When the FBI receives word of vampire-related murders, they order tough-as-nails resident witch Arielle Thompson to investigate. But the last thing Arielle expects is to have her butt saved by a friendly vampire who claims he's tracking the master vamp responsible for the murders.

Despite her wounded pride, Arielle can't help her inexplicable attraction to this sexy-as-sin vampire who calls himself simply "Jackson." He reluctantly informs her that their enemy is far more powerful than reports said -- and his powerbase is only increasing.

Arielle and Jackson must team up to stop him, before he grows too powerful to defeat.

Check out http://www.liquidsilverbooks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9196 for more info and an excerpt. :)

Thanks, Jane! :D

My debut YA novel (heavy on the romance), PRADA & PREJUDICE, comes out next week (June 11th!)

Back Cover Copy:

Fifteen-year-old Callie buys a pair of real Prada pumps to impress the cool crowd on a school trip to London. Goodbye, Callie the clumsy geek-girl, hello popularity! But before she knows what's hit her, Callie wobbles, trips, conks her head... and wakes up in the year 1815!

She stumbles about until she meets the kind-hearted Emily, who takes Callie in, mistaking her for a long-lost friend. Sparks soon fly between Callie and Emily's cousin, Alex, the maddeningly handsome-'though totally arrogant-'Duke of Harksbury. Too bad he seems to have something sinister up his ruffled sleeve...

From face-planting off velvet piano benches and hiding behind claw-foot couches to streaking through the estate halls wearing nothing but an itchy blanket, Callie's curiosity about Alex creates all kinds of trouble.

But the grandfather clock is ticking on her 19th Century shenanigans. Can Callie save Emily from a dire engagement, win a kiss from Alex, and prove to herself that she's more than just a loud-mouth klutz before her time there is up?

YA readers and fans of Jane Austen (or just regency historicals) should enjoy this one.

Thanks for letting me share!

Oooh, and now I see Judi posted about Over Her Head. Obviously we're on the same wavelength. (Pun intended.)

From the Dear Author archives on a recent Berkley Giveaway(because I'd really rather have you all pimp my book than doing it myself)

SEA LORD by Virginia Kantra is the third book in the Children of the Sea series, which is her selkie paranormal romance series. In case you don't know, selkies are half-human, half-seal-on land, they're human but transform to seals in the water-as long as they still have their pelt. Take away their pelt, and you take away their ability to transform. SEA LORD is the story of Lucy Hunter and Conn ap Llyr, the selkie prince, and Virginia doesn't disappoint. Virginia's selkies are some of the most fascinating paranormal creatures around, and I love how she develops the selkies through their relationships (romantic and otherwise) with humans in her books. Lucy and Conn's romance is both epic and wonderfully intimate, and SEA LORD really delivers-both on the emotional front, and on the action front. The stakes are high in SEA LORD, and readers will feel every moment.

Yes, you read that correctly. Other paranormal authors are writing about sleek beasts prowling through moonlit jungles and dark and dangerous men with fangs and capes and I'm stuck in...Sea World. This was such a, er, bold career move that Eloisa James blogged about it here:
Wild Kingdom!

SEA LORD was a May 5 release.
You can read an excerpt (and check out its awesome cover) here:
