"The quality of my rejection letters improved"

Was someone trying to tell you that with work, work, work, possibly, maybe, perhaps, some day you may have a book published?
Rather than...you suck...find another career?

I love your story, Miranda. I chuckled over your Rejection Streamlining joy. Two today? yay! How ironic it is that aspiring writers can speak with such happiness about good quality rejections. But, they do mean a writer is making progress.

And thank goodness you recognize the importance of pastry in a plot. Lots of writers just don' get it. Such a pity!

Wonderful story! Thanks so much for sharing it.

all the things I'd learned about: Action, Motivation, Conflict, Sexual Tension, a Black Moment, and Pastry.

LOL! Pastry is the best part.

What a great story Miranda! My editor at Avon does mostly historical (I write paranormal) and it's one of the reasons I started reading them again. I'm happy to say historicals are a must for me once more! Kudos on your new release, I have it in, and plan on cracking it open this weekend!

Great post. Always fun to hear how an author sold their first book.

Never Resist Temptation was a terrific read!

Looking forward to more books.

OMG. Nalini Singh!
OK I'm back on my chair. Thank you sooo much Daniel. Hopefully my next book will be finished soon - I have a contract for two more.

Jayne: With electronic submissions and email rejections I fear for the future of wallpaper. I bet JRR Tolkien's rejections came handwritten on beautiful heavy notepaper with engraved letterheads. I bet his bathroom was really cool.

The quality of my rejection letters improved (a statement that can only be understood by the aspiring writer)

Bwahaha. Is this the difference between "You suck" postcards and "I see signs of quality" rejection letters that you could use for the wallpapering effort?

Thank you for a witty start to my Friday, Miranda.
