My previous books have been classified as “women’s fiction”–and are about creating families, but with this book, I knew I wanted to write a love story that would be a funny, poignant exploration of the ways in which relationships come to us when we least expect them…and how even the most screwed-up, stubborn people can learn to find their true selves in someone else.

KISSING GAMES OF THE WORLD is told from two points of view: the chapters alternate between Jamie, a single mom/artist who is raising her asthmatic little boy in a farmhouse she shares with her landlord, an older man who is raising his grandson…and Nate, the old man’s son who has to come back to claim his little boy when his father drops dead suddenly of a heart attack. Publishers Weekly called the book “an absolute treat…filled with realistic twists, complex characters and a moving conclusion” and said that it “elevates the oft-told stories of opposites attracting and songs struggling against their fathers.”

And Romantic Times gave it 4 1/2 stars and said it was a “warm, sentimental love story…told with a tenderness of heart and a nurturing eye guiding complexly drawn characters. The Shining One is a fantasy romance set it a world that was originally inspired by Greek mythology, although I’d like to think it went in a fairly unique direction from there. It’s also my first major publication. I hope to write more in that universe but The Shining One is a stand-alone story.

BROKEN WING is published through and independent press and doesn't have a NY size print run, so it might take some effort to find. It also may be too dark and edgy for some readers, and it may not appeal to those looking for a lighter read, but those who like raw-edged emotion and intense romance, spiced with high adventure, exotic locales, and an extra dollop of history, will I hope, be in for a treat.
