I loved a lot of Crichton's work, especially Jurassic Park and Eaters of the Dead. I wasn't a big fan of his later work and unfortunately got more soured by his response to Michael Crowley's criticism (creating a barely endowed child rapist by the name of Mick Crowley in one of his books), but for all that, he was still a wonderful adventure novelist, IMO, creating the kind of visceral suspense I wish we saw more of in today's fiction.
