As I enjoy psychological issues and exploring their impact on relationships, initially I was intrigued by the aspect of hoarding syndrome, an extremely debilitating illness.

That is, until it was revealed Noah was allowed into Lexy's childhood home. Compulsive Hoarding Syndrome is a socially isolating illness due to embarassment over non-functioning living spaces and visitors are not allowed, even immediate family not residing in the home.

And more, Noah noted the illness edged up on Lexy now and then. CHS does not ebb and flow, it is a constant compulsivity that worsens over time and typically begins at puberty.

Granted, the story indicated Lexy had therapy in the past and compulsive disorders can reoccur, but CHS is not limited to hoarding and would have been evidenced in problem solving, organisation, numbing perfectionism and extreme anxiety. There could have been a great exploration of avoidance due to CHS and the long road back to Noah by confronting the challenges of compulsivity.
