I thought the book was amazing! I never read the first one, but I didnt really need to in order to understand this one. And I love Paul :D

The Diplomat’s Wife – I found it to be so melodramatic that it turned into a parody toward the end of the book. Some anachronisms also. OK for teenagers, I guess but I certainly was not impressed and will do no further reading of this author.

Octavia, I never read the first book after seeing the grade at AAR and reading the things the reviewer didn’t like. To be honest, I had forgotten that book when I saw this one listed so the grade didn’t influence the way I read “Diplomat’s Wife.”

I had mixed feelings about the first book, some because there were glaring historical inaccuracies (as well as an inaccurate timeline) that I kept stumbling over. But I will definitely read this one. Marta was already intriguing in The Kommandant’s Wife.
