It seems that Dara Joy has lost her touch. I read the 3 original MOD books when they were originally published, and eagerly awaited the story on Traed and Dariq when the whole lawsuit happened. I ordered my copy of Ritual of Proof (and could not believe how bad it was), but I was still willing to give her another shot cuz I really wanted to know what happened to Traed! After reading all these postings, my curiosity has been satisfied. So long Traed!

I do not know if anyone has brought this to your attention, but Dara Joy has apparently taken a page out of Deborah Mc’s play book and has had all the DOZENS of abysmal negative reviews on Amazon REMOVED. There are several reviewers discussing this on the forums under the Wildcat Arrows listing. When I posted my negative review about a year ago, there were at least 12 more Negs then-now there are 2 reviews, 1 neg, just posted 1-1-09 and a 4 star review by SURPRISE, a reviewer that that’s their only review.

I have over 500 reviews on Amazon-pos and neg, have spent several years slowly adding my reviews up on there, and these hi jinks by these frankly immature authors sickens me. I hope you investigate this and get the word out. Yet another author I will never buy from because of this outrageous unprofessionalism!

I loved the short story “Death by Ploot Ploot” I miss the characters in this story line. I’m still waiting for them to find Brygar and Dariq. Of all things we need to see Traed join the Charl and take a mate. Biggest of all is watching Rejar reach his 10th level and of course produce an offspring… speaking of children we need to hear Jenise brought her babe safely into the universe…. my goodness the waiting is killing me! Love your work Dara keep it coming!

I think Dara Joy is finished for me with this book. The book has no story to it. I don’t even know how “Dariq” factors in. I wouldn’t want to read such stuff without getting paid for it. To actually have [i]paid[/i] just proves to me that she no longer has a clue to what constitutes good reading. Pity. The earlier books in this series showed promise.

I confess! I lied! I lied because I am almost certainly jealous of the stunning awe inspiring talent of Dara Joy. Death By Ploot Ploot might out shine Gone With The Wind eventually and the movie rights to this epic may rake in big big money.

I forgot to add the best part to our review — that the document comes encrypted with a password (that they send to you) that you have to use EVERY TIME you open the PDF document! It’s one thing to discourage piracy, but quite another to discourage lawful reading and re-reading of one’s own legally purchased copy.

He’s sold on ebay about 12 copies in the last 30 days at $5.50 each.

I don’t see it on Amazon but is that the same Dara Joy who has Christian/R&B/Contemporary MP3 downloads listed on Amazon?

Thank you for posting this review. I was debating though I resented the whole “it’s a gift for my fans” while charging $4.50. I even seen Dara’s webmaster selling it on ebay. Guess they seen how much her self-published books used to go for and thought there would be a market for it there. I just can’t justify buying a story so short for more than half what I pay for a mass paperback. If she posted it on her site, I would read it. I am hoping maybe it will be included as an extra with one of her later books.

I really liked the Matrix of Destiny series (though I thought REJAR was weak and silly) as a whole, but upon re-reading them, I find they don’t stand up to the test of time. I was a lot younger (a teen) when I first read these. I find my tastes has changed and the campy feel of the story gets on my nerves at times. However, I am still curious to find out what happens with Traed and Dariq. Guess I’ll just wait for the library to borrow it.

Okay, so are you saying that all those magical references are intentionally sexually charged?

I’ve read one Dara Joy. I wasn’t interested in reading more, but I read her as camp, rather like Jayne Ann Krentz’s Jayne Castle books. Coff/tea? Chick/turk meat? Pet dust bunnies? The Castle’s so cute-overload, it’s got to be intentional*. Similarly, I’d say all Joy’s “surging”, etc, sounds intentional. Whether it’s intentionally camp, or just intentionally charged, I can’t say. But not inadvertent.

* “Intentional” doesn’t guarantee it’s good. But it does leave the writing open to a different level of interpretation.

Karmyn, whatever you do, do NOT go to Urban Dictionary to look up “ploot ploot.” I so wish I can undo the knowledge.

And who would seriously put that in a title and expect it to sell?

Apparently, Dara Joy and I’m sure it sold like hotcakes because she has quite a following. I’ve never read her and from this review and Mrs. Giggles’s reviews of her other books, I don’t think I will.
