tyr - so glad that you are enjoying it here.

I'm not sure what Lily and Zach experienced was love, seeing how they both seemed to be full of longings and memories of other partners.

I think that is very true and had forgotten about it. They did seem to belong together - maybe it was a holdover from the connection that they had in the previous book - but the way that their love for each other was shown didn't sound very plausible. Janzen, though, is a super addictive author.

Hiya Jane,

I also loved this book. But only after a couple of reads. The 'action told in summary form' is a recurring characteristic of this series and one of the quirks that makes it stand out from other spy stuff. (see all the stuff about j.t's death, dylan's torture, cody's time in europe)

I agree with you that there is too little about the main couple, too much about the bad-couple relationship. I'm not sure what Lily and Zach experienced was love, seeing how they both seemed to be full of longings and memories of other partners. But I too liked them as a couple.

I loved the way all the strands dove-tailed together at the end. In fact I thought the big show-down scene was brilliantly done, with near-tragedy just averted. I also like the way the author throws in references to world current affairs and ties them all together. In many ways she's building her own world in a much more complex manner than sci-fi authors because it has to be based on reality.

So you guessed it. I'm a big fan. Love the site btw.

I loved this book and found that it actually would be a good stand-alone, as it does introduce the reader to all of the chop-shop boys and girls. I see that the Alazne factor causes some concern, but how is what she did for the boys any different than what Travis does with his sexual imprinting therapy? Is it just because she's a woman that the "Ick" factor is triggered? And if so, why is it ok for Travis, but not for Alazne? Just food for thought.

I liked the summary form in parts of the book; I think that if she's spent more time explaining how Zach liberated Charlotte or the discourse in the motel room, the momentum would have been slowed.

I fell in love with this series with CRAZY HOT and always anxiously await the next release. Steele Street has become a comfortable place for me to spend an afternoon; heck with my "inner NASCAR", I want to release my "inner Skeeter."

Apparently all the “lost boys” of Steele Street got to go to a woman named Alazne in Arizona. She would “keep” them for a month (two in the case of Hawkins) and through her weird deflowering/seduction/introduction to manhood she would “heal” these lost boys. It was special and by special I mean speshul in the way that teachers have a thing for their teenaged students. It was a strange kind of mothering if you ask me.

Interesting how this fact is shared now, eight books into the series. Screams (to me) of sloppy, after-the-fact character set-up. Plus it pushes my squick button.

I love the cover, too...it's the same art as my 2005 release...which was also used on an ebook and again on a book by Cosmo editor Kate White (although they super-imposed a fire extinguisher over the gun and changed the dress color).

I just found the third use of my upcoming art for a different publisher...I really wish we could go back to the days of photo shoots rather than recycling so much "bought" art.

Thanks for the review. And the hint on not starting this series with this book.

And I know this is romantic suspense rather than romance per se, but I thought of your recent romance makeover discussion, and I have to say, I really love this cover!
