I am also very skeptical of this offer. I don't want to have to pay so much money up front just to get a good price on ebooks. Luckily I can get low prices without paying membership fees upfront at BooksOnBoard.com. BooksOnBoard has the lowest prices I've found for ebooks on the internet and they have a better selection of Adobe ebooks for my Mac!

Why do this when you get the similar discounts and better at BooksOnBoard without the upfront investment? This is a way for Fictionwise to get $425 upfront - and a big chunk of it at pure profit - smart business for them, but it's going to take some serious spreadsheet work and long-term planning to even see if it could be worthwhile when other options exist. Maybe it's kind of like a health club plan, take the money up front and figure that most people won't maximize the advantage over time. I'd just as soon get my discounts without paying for them.
