I liked “Driven”, but really never felt much investment in Raina or Wizard. While I appreciated the slow build up in terms of world-building, by the time I learned what made the two main characters tick I felt that for the story to work as a romance it needed to be longer than it was. From your review though, I’m guessing romance is secondary in the Shomi line?

I will say that for someone with so little emotion, Wizard has some impressive, uh, technical skills…..

Hopefully, the author will continue to write gothics under her Eve Silver name; the two she’s published so far have been wonderful.

I was also thinking of Driven as “Mad Max”. A really great book and very different from Eve’s historical romances.
But for some reason everytime I read about Wizard, I was thinking about Mr Wizard from my childhood days! LOL
