Cyndi: I agree with you about the narrative strategy in Mad Dash. IMO it's a reflection of Gaffney's strength as a writer that she could maintain such a compelling first person narrative with these two characters. I actually would have liked to see more of Chloe, but in a way this was really Dash and Andrew's story to tell, and I liked that Gaffney was able to mix up the narrative perspective.

Barbara: I hope you like it and post your feelings when you're done. I know that Jane did a fabulous review of the book already, but when I read it (based on her raves, actually), I was so excited, I had to write my own review, because I was so anxious to *talk* about this book with other people. As much as I read outside Romance, women's fiction has not really been a big draw for me, but now -- at least -- I want to pull Gaffney's other non-Romance titles and try them out.

Rachel: The AAR review was one of my incentives for writing this one, actually, because it was so antithetical to my own reading experience. And as much as I agreed with a lot of things in the Washington Post review, I thought Andrew was totally misunderstood, lol.

I just got from the library about a week ago. I read the C review at AAR and got discouraged, but now I think I'll pick it up next. Thanks for the review.

Great review. Thanks.

I'm a big fan of Gaffney's romances, too. I haven't read any of her women's fiction yet, but I bought Mad Dash last week from Fictionwise. Mainly for the 100% discount and because I knew I couldn't go wrong with Gaffney in any genre.

I picked this up as an ARC at RWA Nationals. It may be the best book I've read this year, and I read a lot of books. The characters were real to me. Their situation was real. I loved her combined use of first and third person in her story telling It worked well with this plot.

Gaffney is a genus. I want to be Gaffney when I grow up!
