ive read this book and i think there eloisa focus on too much of the charactr=ers in this novel which ends up not much on the part of the hero and heroin, i know the title is duchesses which meant to be 2 heroins? but then ending of the story is about roberta and damon, i think she should focus on these two characters only, i like her A duke of her own much much better than this novel

While Roberta's attraction to Villiers keeps the conflict between Roberta and Beaumont alive, it seems manufactured. Beaumont's own attraction to Roberta is hidden.
I think maybe you mean Damon?

I’m trying to read this book now, and I’m so frustrated by it that I’ve had to read the story out of order and all over the place. I think your review is spot on, except that I can’t warm to Jemma either. The Jemma/Beaumont/Villiers triangle gives me cold chills (of dread) and I just can’t handle it.

Danielle – where was the review? I haven’t been around much in blogland. As chagrined as I am to say it, I am glad that other people feel a little less smart reading James’ books too. I know I am not alone in my “not getting” it island.

I’m still waiting to receive this book….over at another web site they gave this book a D+ rating. I agree that she does write beautifully, but sometimes I feel that she’s too witty..and yes I too feel stupid when I read some of her books, especially The Taming Of The Duke.
