Dogs can ride in the cabin if they can fit in a small carrier, and the traveler — the human one, that is — needs to advise the airline in advance as they might have limits on how many pets they allow in the cabin. Usually under 6 or 7.

Interestingly enough, if you buy your pet a space in *cargo* the airline can refuse last minute if the weather is deemed unsuitable — extreme heat or cold.

Um, and the book sounds interesting, even if the dachshund was probably traumatized by all the naughty.

Do you remember the Jude Deveraux book. . . .

Nope – I had a 25+ year romance reading slump – missed the 80′s, 90′s and the early 00′s. Spent 2005 glomming a lot of backlists but the Deveraux book most recommended is “Knight in Shining Armor” and that didn’t catch my fancy so no Deveraux.

So that's one transcontinental flight in baggage …

What she didn’t buy the dog a ticket? I’ve flown beside pets in the main cabin – now I wonder if you can still do this?

And what’s worse about Nappy is that Paige lives in Georgia and the story mainly takes place in Wyoming. So that’s one transcontinental flight in baggage for him. Then, at the end (after 3 days), Nappy ends up back on a plane while Paige stays in Wyoming for four more weeks. Two long flights for this poor dog then he’s probably going to have to do it again once Paige moves out West.

I looked at this and decided not to get it because of the dog. Not because it’s named Nappy, but….what kind of nitwit takes their daschaund(sp?) along on their big seduction/fantasy weekend? Out of town? What was the poor thing supposed to do, sit in the hotel room and watch? At least she didn’t have it in a sweater, or a little sombrero.

My bad (in my daughter’s outgrown vocab) . Both reviews let me know that this was NOT a “changing places” story. I just wanted to comment that my own experience with identical twins make “changing places” stories very unlikely and “ugly duckling to swan” stories very plausible.

This isn’t a “changing places” novel. Paige’s sister Dorie urges her to go out and fulfill her sexual fantasies but Paige doesn’t take Dorie’s place nor have a fling with anyone Dorie knows. It’s more an “emerging butterfly” plot.

I really like the double reviews. Intellectually, I’m glad that this is a review of an e-pub although the events of the last 3 weeks have left me disinclined to purchase any e-pub’s. I only wanted to comment on Jane’s opening remark:

My first thought when I started this book was whether you could be a twin and be plain

Uhhh — I don’t know why I have been blessed with so many relationships with identical twins (family, friends, school. work) but my own experiences say that personality trumps genetics every time. So I question “changing places” novels but I have no trouble believing that one identical twin is beautiful and the other is plain.
