Nice interview. What caught my eye though was the mention of Sharon Lee and Steve Miller as favorites of Heather's. Heather if you're listening, maybe you could think of picking them up for the Tor line since their publisher Meisha Merlin went under - and with a book due out this month too. :(

Sharon and Steve always have a great mix of sf and romance and would work very well in Tor's line.

Loved this interview. It's always fun to read the "predictions" of those in the industry and their own personal favs. Looks like good stuff coming, and more from Heather's folks on the way next year.

Interesting interview. I have to confess that I am far more interested in SF&F from Tor. But, I like the comments on trends: only truly amazing vampires (hopefully there will be none); urban fantasy; contempory - sounds good.

The comments on RPG's made me laugh the most - no Zelda - bah humbug.

Yeah Heather. I was so thrilled when Bob Diforio told me you were moving to TOR. The move is very well deserved and I know you will bring experience and inovation to TOR's lineup.

Great interview, Jane! I've always had a ton of respect for Heather because she's always struck me as very savvy and passionate about the publishing world. I can't wait to see the books she chooses and how she makes her mark on Tor.
