Barbara, the heroine and her father sided with the Parliamentarian forces during the Civil War which figures into the heroine's past. The hero's family in England were Royalists but he was actually born and raised in Sweden so it's not really an issue between the two of them. It does cause tension between the heroine and the hero's cousin who will be the hero of book three in the series.

Wow! I've never read a Restoration era romance that wasn't interesting at the very least. What a fascinating period. I've got to find this book!

OK, with a promise of no amnesia and knowing there won't be any cowboys or sheiks in it, I'm willing to watch the Duke get his. So to speak.

No, no, absolutely no amnesia, I promise. And the secret baby bit really doesn't last for long. I quite liked it precisely because it wasn't the usual secret baby scenario.

Oooh, a Restoration secret baby book. Just please tell me the book doesn't feature a major character with amnesia as well. Pretty please!

I know what you mean about nail biting over whether or not someone will enjoy a book I've cajoled them into reading. It's never fun when they come back and tell me that the book sucked for them. As you say, the money might not be an issue but the time certainly is. ;)

I'm glad you liked this one better than the last one in the series. I always feel ridiculously responsible when I recommend a book, and if you hadn't liked it I'd have felt guilty about wasting your time (though not your money if you can return books).

The next and concluding book in the series has far fewer misunderstandings (it's a sort-of secret-baby story, except that everyone behaves sensibly, so the baby isn't a secret) and again has an interesting slant on class divisions.
